Who used all the k-cups?
I love coffee. It is one of my simple pleasures that I enjoy multiple times per day (yes, I’m an addict). Last year I received an awesome gift for Christmas from my family – a Keurig. For many people a Keurig is a coffee lover’s dream – but for those who are frugal, it is only a dream come true until the k-cup samples run out.
Yes, this is how it transpired for me. I was faced with the excruciating decision to buy more expensive k-cups and I realized that my dream coffee maker did much more than brew great coffee – It was burning a hole in my wallet. Lets face it folks, there is no such thing as cheap k-cups.
That was until I discovered a way to not only brew great coffee with my Keurig, but to save money in the process. In fact, my Keurig became a money saving machine to save me big time cash and live cheap!
So, how did I do it? … I purchased a refillable k-cup made by ekobrew.
An ekobrew cup is a refillable k-cup filter that you can reuse and reuse over and over again. It is made by a company called ekobrew, and is absolutely fantastic because essentially it is the cheapest k-cup around. Over the last 7 months I have used it hundreds of times and it still works perfectly and brews amazing coffee. Here’s 3 more reasons I love ekobrew.
Reason 1: I’m saving cash – even more than I did using an old fashioned drip coffee maker
If you drink coffee like me, you are probably spending close to $10 a week buying coffee for a regular coffee machine. I’m sure you are probably brewing pots of coffee and many times throwing away the leftovers. Armed with a Keurig and ekobrew, there is none of this waste. Every ounce of coffee is used, so you know you are being efficient.
In addition, I save big money over using regular k-cups. Depending on package size, k-cups generally run 60 cents per cup – so 14 cups will make you 2 cups a day at around $1.20 per day ($36 a month – easy). By using a refillable k-cup, I can buy a good package of coffee @ $10 and make it last all month. Better yet – I many times buy in bulk from local roasters, savings even more money. I estimate I am easily saving $25-$50 a month, compared to using store bought k-cups – based on coffee intake of course!
Reason 2: I can use my local coffee roasters
Like I said – I love coffee. I’ve also found that the best coffee around comes from the little guys. Those that run small coffee roasting businesses and take pride in every step of the process. If you haven’t tried a local roaster, please do. You can usually find a local roaster from your local farmers market, or just ask a coffee lover friend. I’m betting once you try a cup from a local roaster, you’ll won’t be satisfied with anything store bought again..
With my Keurig, armed with my ekobrew, I can still enjoy my favorite locally roasted coffee. The flavors I want, the brand I want, is always available for my Keurig.
Reason 3: It just brews great coffee
The third reason I love ekobrew is that it just brews great coffee. All you need to do is grind your favorite coffee and fill the ekobrew to the top – the Keurig does the rest. Every cup, every time, I enjoy an amazing cup of coffee.
So stop letting that Keurig throw your money down the toilet. Go get a ekobrew (or some other refillable k-cup) and start saving money. You don’t have to settle for high priced coffee anymore. Let your ekobrew turn your coffee habit into a money saving machine.
So what do you think? Have you tried a refillable k-cup? Do you love it – or hate it?
